Thanks Andy for writing this. 'Find what you love and let it kill you' was printed and stuck on my wall as I was growing up :)

I resonate with this line from your article: 'it’s typical for high-achievers entering mid-career. Disproportionately high work demands will come at the expense of your other needs.' Your article is very timely and helpful.

thanks a lot for the thoughts. No water, a position with justification, each section is so practical that it immediately makes you think. practical tools and an example of the context of application are always very valuable. your subscription remained with me one of three, the rest were all discarded. very valuable. it is experience and other people's mistakes and conclusions that allow others to avoid these problems.

Very interesting. I'm looking for new positions & I keep taking jobs at smaller co's b/c I'm most comfortable in that environment, even though the businesses have more ups & downs compared to a bigger one. Good call-out about making sure you aren't on someone else's ladder

Fantastic writing Andy. Thanks for sharing. Have you come across Deci & Ryan's Self Determination Theory? They explore the 3 psychological needs we need fulfilled to thrive. Autonomy/Relatedness/Competence. Let me know if you want some links. Best, G

I have! I am a big fan of the Autonomy/Relatedness/Competence framework. I'll probably do a separate post on it down the road.
