Andy, this was the first piece I read from you and I just wanted to say it was deep yet digestible, serious yet entertaining, and overall worth re-reading and sharing. I did not expect to be this enlightened after my commute! Thank you very much for this
Particularly enjoyed the thread on conditioning. “The main preoccupation of society is keeping people sick.” You might enjoy Awareness by Tony De Mello - recommend by Naval Ravikant, Eckhart Tolle, and Tim Ferris (not a bad list)…
I’m part of the prestigious Main Street Hub mafia of Austin Texas. I only brag about this to Silicon Valley Hotshots who respect this kind of business/street cred. :)
Lol I love how you don’t take yourself to seriously. Your tools are so practical I think anyone can improve after reading this (and come back to it over and over again.) each year I spend “in the tech start up” life requires a new mindset and few understand how tough it can be who have not done it themselves. I think periodically “subtracting” is one of the most underrated keys to success. We only have so much time and energy we have to focus it where it matters and where we get the best results. This is an art.
Small world! I first meet Matt Stuart about a decade ago when the company was still young. I was really happy to see how well things turned out for all of you. And thank you for the very kind words :) I aim to make mental health more approachable and practical so it's validating to hear this from you.
Thank you for the support! Think of your work on mental health like an archaeologist. They slowly sweep away the debris and junk that's built up over time, concealing what was underneath. What you're doing is you're carefully, thoughtfully, and patiently sweeping the debris away to discover what was underneath, much like the archaeologist.
My view is that we discover our true desires and capabilities underneath all of the junk. So, in effect, we are "regressing to the gene" i.e. waking up to our innate potentiality. And then integrating that awareness into our lives moving forward.
Andy, I would love to read and learn on "deprogramming" the self from beliefs that have been drummed into us from childhood and by the culture at-large in adulthood. Please consider writing an essay on deprogramming. Thanks!
"In the language of spirituality, an ‘Awakening’ is the processing of deprogramming a belief, and an ‘Enlightenment’ is the state of fully deprogramming from all beliefs."
On the path to "enlightenment," one Awakens -- at some point in one's life -- to detach from all deified outer Gurus and Prophets, to discover one's own Inner Guru.
As always. Fantastic.
Same thing I wanted to add
Thanks D!

Thx Jackson! De Mello is wonderful. His meditations are so simple, clear, and insightful.
Going back and reading all your old posts. Super helpful and never laid out so clearly to me. I appreciate these templates too!
My pleasure :)

You’re doing amazing! Everything else on mental health is written in the most unapproachable language ever
Love the writings man! I'm also ex fb and from a small humble town in Costa Rica :)
Working w/ the coach and therapist to unbundle the T's.
What I particularly love here is the piece around knowing who you were before you knew who you were. I'm still sitting with this one....
Thanks for writing and please keep it up.
